About Rachel S. Cotrino, Esquire
Rachel S. Cotrino is the author the The Family Law Blog, the owner of the Law Office of Rachel S. Cotrino, LLC, and currently practices family law in Ocean County, New Jersey. Rachel’s expertise extends into matters involving child support, child custody, equitable distribution and distribution of assets, parenting time and visitation, domestic violence and divorce.
Rachel began her career as a distinguished law clerk for the Honorable James M. Blaney, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of Ocean County. While a law clerk, Rachel assisted the Court in preparing tentative decisions and orders on matters relating to child support, visitation, and custody. During this time, Rachel mediated disputes in the Court’s Special Civil Part. This experience honed her mediation and negotiation skills; skills that play a big role in the outcome of your divorce.
After her clerkship, Rachel joined the law firm of Gertner Mandel & Peslak, LLC. As an associate with the firm, Rachel developed the firm’s matrimonial practice and has successfully guided many clients through the rigors of the divorce process.
Rachel is a firm believer in tailoring each client’s strategy to their unique situation. All clients are unique and so are their circumstances. The divorce process is further complicated by one party’s unilateral decision to liquidate assets and/or financially “cut off” a spouse in the months leading up to divorce. The parties’ interpersonal relationship plays a large role in determining the course of one’s divorce. Issues of control, domestic violence, and abuse must be identified in order to craft a strategy that deals with the financial and interpersonal realities.
